When Is The Best Time To Workout
When is the best time to workout is a very common question that I get. I decided to give a little bit of feedback on what I believe. My first answer to when is the best time to workout morning or evening is “The time you will do it”. Here is my philosophy, if you know that you will not workout in the evening after a hard day at work then it’s obvious that you need to plan to do your workout in the morning. I don’t believe everyone is the same when it comes to this, I know for me personally mornings is much better. I feel so much better, it gets my metabolism revved up and I just seem to have much more energy for the day and I don’t have to worry about getting my workout in later.
Some people ask about specific things like when is the best time to workout for weight loss or fat loss. I feel that early morning fasted state seems to work best, I know it does for me. After you have slept at night your body is in a fasted type state in the morning, so it seems much easier to shed body fat IMO. Now with that being said I also feel at times it is a good idea to get a small dose of carbs or something to help you in your workout, maybe a small apple, banana, even some Pre Workouts have some carbs for that energy boost needed. Since I mentioned it, I do suggest taking a Pre Workout and not just any Pre Workout, be careful of what you’re using. I use Energize or Energy & Endurance.
If you are just starting early morning workouts and have never did them before just be patient it will get easier the more you do it, I PROMISE. I was never a morning person, but now I love to get up and workout in the mornings and I talk to many of my clients and customers who have also made the adjustment work for them. Also another benefit to morning workout is that you can get this done before the kids get up and your day gets hectic, I realize that people have busy lives, but if you will start to implement this into a 30 minute workout from home early in the morning you’ll be AMAZED. Here is a few quick tips for you:
- Don’t hit SNOOZE!
- Drink a glass of water first thing!
- Have your program picked out the night before.
- Have your clothes already laid out for you the night before.
Afternoon or Evening
You may decide that mornings just don’t work for you and that’s ok, maybe you’re not a morning person or just can’t seem to do it. Here is a couple of things to keep in mind. How will I be able to wind down at night? Sometimes people who have had an intense workout in the evening might find it difficult to go to sleep, especially if you have taken a Pre Workout so keep that in mind. I have some people who actually do better working out in the evening. It really comes down to how your body responds to these changes, which is another thought, be sure to track your progress. You may seem to lose more weight or body fat by doing an early workout but if you don’t track progress you’ll never know.
